Nothing Shall be Impossible

For with God nothing will be impossible Luke 1:37

One of God’s names is Jehovah Elshadai–God the almighty. He is omnipotent. When He decides to do a thing, no power in heaven or hell can stop Him. That is our God, our Father. He works, who will reverse it? (Isaiah 43:13). The big question however in the minds of many, is, if God is this powerful why does it look as if the devil is winning? The answer to this is very simple. God works only when we let Him.

Naaman Nearly Missed it

Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” 11 But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’ 12 Are not the Abanah and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. 13 And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” 14 So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 2 Kings 5:9-14

The passage above reveals the dynamics of one of the ways God works. Faith is knowing that God will always play His own part. This can be taken for granted. Very often, though, the missing part is that of ours. Why this? God created everything by His word. In the beginning, He spoke everything into being (Genesis 1:3). He is still speaking things into being today if only we can position ourselves into receiving what He is saying, there is no limit to what can be accomplished. Sometimes, God spoke by Himself, sometimes He spoke through His servants. Either way, it is the same. Apart from God and His servant, the critical part of the equation is the recipient. But Naaman became furious and went away and said “indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out’. Immediately Naaman received the Word from Elisha, he quickly filtered it through his experience (things he knew). 2 Kings 5:11-12 says Naaman wondered why the prophet wouldn’t just wave his hand or suggest rivers Abanah and Pharpar. Immediately, Namman nearly became the obstacle to His own miracle. The same is applicable to us today. Most of the time, we are the obstacles to our own miracles. Had Naaman walked away as he planned to, he would have remained a leper and that wouldn’t have changed a thing about the ability of God to heal him.

When you need God to do what He can do…

Come to Him with an empty cup. It’s funny and counterproductive when we come to God to fill our cup when our cups are filled already with our ideas, how-to, what to, when to. Openness is the first door opener. Be open and willing to be vulnerable. Be ready to be referred to as a fool. This is because our first line of hindrance is the things we know. So, when He speaks either directly or indirectly, we must take His word as it is.

Don’t wait for water to part before you step in if He asks you. It is natural for man to want to gather information and be comfortable before we take steps. Taking steps is easy after we have obtained every information possible. At this point, there is no need for faith. Being ready to take risk on God is perhaps the most rewarding investment we can ever make as believers. When He speaks, He speaks the result and what is ultimately possible.

Trust God to guide you through the gap between the promise and its manifestation. God usually leaves out the in-betweens.

Now the lord had said to Abram: Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you.  I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed (Genesis 12:1-3).

The passage above showed another way God works. He never provided details for Abram, He never will for you. He only expects you to trust and make a move. Abram’s response in verse four was exemplary. It was the key that opened the door for him. So, Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him Genesis (12:4). No destination, no GPS, no time frame, no direction, NO PROBLEM. This apparently impressed God then, it impresses Him now. Don’t wait for the details, you know enough to take a step. Move with what you know lest you miss His move.

Keep your eyes on the ball. Avoid distraction. Distraction is perhaps the most dangerous hindrance to our breakthroughs. Moses nearly got to the promised land. He was described by God as the meekest man on earth (Numbers 12:3). Yet, he was distracted by the frustration of his followers. One attribute no one can take away from the enemy is tenacity. Another thing is how efficient his network of loyal agents is. The enemy will always try to wait until when we are most vulnerable. Keeping our eyes on the ball indicates how loyal our heart to God (Numbers 32:12). Once you have received the promise and believed, don’t let events around you destroy your expectations. Hold fast to what you believe. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry (Habakkuk 2:3)

Conclusion

Beloved, in what area of your life are you faced with some things that are seemingly impossible? Is it in your marriage/relationship, in the life of your loved ones, your career/business, your ministry or your health? Determine today to LET GOD do what only Him can do for you. For Him, there’s nothing damaged that can’t be fixed. You don’t have to accept your situation as the norm. Press forward towards your desire. Do not lower your expectations. Like Abraham, do not waver in faith through unbelief, trust that He that has promised is faithful. It’s never too late. Just believe in Him, wait for Him and while waiting, praise HIM. He will do it.

Faith Declaration

Abba Father, thank you for revealing yourself as Jehovah Elshadai – the Lord almighty. I have confidence that there is nothing impossible for you. I therefore lay down all my fears and anxieties before your throne and choose to rest in your promises.  Like Mary, I declare, let it be unto me according to your word. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I receive the strength to wait in prayers and worship. I will not be weary. I will not lose hope. I will not allow the enemy to steal my victory. I cast down the stronghold of unbelief and declare with faith that every situation that seems impossible becomes possible now, in Jesus’ name.
