These are interesting times. With COVID-19 pandemic ravaging nations of the world, everyone is seeking an explanation as to what to expect. From mainstream media to social (black market) media, we are being bombarded with all kinds of theories around trying to explain or make a sense out of what the world is going through now. I will not pretend to have an answer as to what is true or what is not. However, in a situation like this when men do not know exactly what to do, the safest thing to do is to start from who we know-God and what we know- the truth (Scriptures). These two will serve as our guiding light in this discourse.

COVID-19, like any other plagues that the world or a part of the world has experienced before is a direct consequence of man’s rebellion against God and the resulted curse(s). Right from the Garden of Eden, Adam rebelled against God and thereby handed the control of our universe to Satan (Genesis 3:16) and God pronounced curses against man (Genesis 3:16, 17-19). The consequence of this was that the rulership of the kingdom earth was handed over to Satan (2Corinthians 4:4). It is only the believers that are under another kingdom within this kingdom (earth). This said, the things the devil is known for according to John 10:10, are to steal, kill and destroy. Therefore, we know that, man, through his rebellion against God handed over the kingdom earth to Satan and he is responsible for COVID-19. We also know, that, various characters do avail themselves for the devil’s use each time he chose to strike. I will not delve into who the agents are.

Most of us are familiar with the principle of diplomatic protection. The embassy of a country in another is immune against the vagaries of events (not natural disaster of course) of the host nation. Diplomats also are. In the same vein, once we put our faith in Christ Jesus, we have been translated from the kingdom of darkness -the kingdom of this world) to the kingdom of light-the kingdom of God (Colossians 1:13). Therefore, as whatever maybe going on in the host country does not impact a diplomat, we too are immune against this. 1 Peter 2:9 says that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood and a holy NATION. Although, our nationhood is in this kingdom earth, we are immune against its events.

Fear not, for I am with you (Isaiah 41:10). Fear is the opposite of faith. They both indicate that something we do not have control over is going to happen. While faith is positive, fear is negative. They both attract things to us. Good or bad. Job said, after his loss, that the things that I feared has happened to me (Job 3:25). Here is the catch, whatever we focus our mind upon, good or bad will eventually become our reality. Our lives are self-fulfilling prophesies. Fear create expectation and the expectation precedes occurrence of events. Fear is unrighteousness just like faith is righteousness (Genesis 15:6). Fear opens the door for the devil and if not dealt with, can create a foothold for the enemy. Instead of fear, have faith in the promise of God (Numbers 23:19)-God is not a man that he would lie neither is He son of man that will change His mind. I encourage you to study, believe and base your expectation on the word of God. He is the only answer we have in times like this.

No resident of Zion will say that I am sick (Isaiah 33:24). To enjoy the available immunity in an embassy, a diplomat must remain within the borders allotted within the host country. In the same way, for a believer to enjoy the immunity available, we must remain within the will of God all the time not only in crisis.
